Here are some examples of my abstract garden sculptures. Most sculptures are one of a kind. A few are commissioned works (for location, size or use and only hints on subject matter). Some designs are multiples but, usually not cookie cutter identical. The sculptures with a red outline, are still available. Some new sculptures are not yet listed.
Garden Steel Sculptures are made of solid steel. Most of the steel is from the skeleton of a pattern cutting machine (flame or laser cut). The parts that are cut from the steel are used and the skeleton is discarded. (You can consider this, sort of a recycling project). I then reshape the pieces of skeleton by cutting to a desired shape and welding the pieces together. It's like looking at clouds and seeing shapes or parts of shapes.
The thickness of the steel ranges from approximately 1/4 in. to 1 1/4 in. The average thickness used is 3/4 in. The sculptures have a spring steel stake (rod) welded on the bottom of the sculpture to hold the sculpture upright. For larger sculptures, a thicker steel rod is used. Sometimes, a steel plate is used on the base of the sculpture for stability. If there is ever a problem (breakage or stability) with any sculpture that you purchase from me, bring it back, and I will be happy to remedy the problem for you at no cost.
