When you are heading up to Alleghany and you're within 20 miles of getting there, you may start to smell an odor. No, it's not the dump or some poor unfortunate animal that didn't quite make it across the road, it is the plant that you see pictured above, "Mountain Misery." A lot of the forest floor is carpeted with this plant, including Alleghany.
